10 Reasons to Work with Alexa

10 Reasons to Work with Alexa

Finding the right coach may be overwhelming when it feels like everyone and their mom is a “coach” these days. And quite frankly, not many of those people have the chops to help you go from your point A to point B. You likely may not even know what your point A and point B are, which I certainly understand.

When you’re deciding to do work that involves psychedelic substances, I think this choice becomes a whole lot more important. Since I first handedly how difficult the process can be, I want to make it a little easier for you by sharing my top 10 reasons why you may enjoy working with me.

I’ve been exactly where you are

Seems obvious to start with the fact that I would feel like a fraud to stand here and say you should work with me if I have never been there myself.

Quite frankly, I spent 27 years of my life ‘going there.’ And by “there” I mean to the depths of my emotions over and over and over again. (I at one point was even addicted to the anxiety I felt because it felt safer than potentially feeling joy and getting it ripped away from me).

Beyond that, I’ve been in the place where I realized there was more to life and I explored every option under the sun until I found something that worked for me, and even then, it felt like it was nothing I was seeing directly being offered to me. I had to dig deep within to find it.

What I’m trying to say is, I get it. I get how difficult it can be to feel stuck, to feel like the only person who feels the way you feel, to feel like if one more person tells me to repeat affirmations I’m gonna lose my mind, and to be so sick of carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders because the life you live in doesn’t feel safe to be your most authentic self in. In fact, I’m willing to bet that you don’t even know what the first step is to feeling differently, which is why you’re still here.

So yeah. I’ve been there, which I believe makes me far more relatable. Plus you’ll spend less of your time explaining it to me, because there’s a good chance I’ll get it. Which means we can spend more of our time getting down to business and diving deeper into how to release what keeps you stuck and move forward in a new and powerful way.

I have no agenda for you

This may come off as odd since I’m coaching for transformation, so naturally I do want something to shift for you, but as far as what it is, that’s your choice.

Something that I greatly admire about my work with clients is that I have the ability to remain curious without leading you down a path that was pre-meditated for change. I learned very quickly how icky that felt when people did it to me, therefore I have no intention to do it to you.

I’m coaching you, not what I think I want you to do and there’s a big difference energetically in how that feels and also how sustainable the change is.

So when we’re working together, expect to feel listened to and heard as we explore and get to the root of what is actually present for you and what change feels most natural and organic to you. Not the change I want you to make.

I’m kind of like a warm ray of sunshine

I say this because it’s told to me only all the time. Shout out to my mom for my middle name being ‘Ray.’

But aside from that obvious fact about my identity, I really do have a warm and welcoming personality. I used to feel like it was a weakness where people wouldn’t take me seriously, and now I realize that it’s a gift because when you feel welcome and safe then you can really do some deep and moving work.

Since this is such a natural piece of my personality, it’s allowed me to spend more time with other skills like listening and intuitively feeling what my clients need in a session.

There’s nothing I love more than watching a client begin the session with their shoulders a bit tight, and a subconscious stiffness holding them solid, and watching the tension begin to melt because I’m welcoming them into the space with open arms and an open heart.

If you feel nervous for coaching or are rigid in your ways, I think we may just be a good fit.

I know my sh*t

Brag moment? I’ll take it. Before I got into the space of coaching and psychedelic integration work, I became completely and utterly obsessed with neuroplasticity and the ability to change and adapt our minds more effectively.

Whether it’s with psychedelics or not, understanding how the brain works is the very thing that helped me change my own. I could visualize new neural pathways being created and old ones shutting off. The knowledge gave me a boost because I could visualize and embody what change felt like simply by knowing what was happening neurobiologically.

After going through the psychedelic integration certification program, I geeked out hard over the science and the spirituality of working with psychedelic substances, the history, the nuances and just about everything in between and I wear my knowledge as a badge of honor.

I know a lot about the world of psychedelic medicine and continue to do my own medicine work and I’m certainly not afraid to share it. Plus I have a lot of confidence that I can guide someone in the right direction no matter what they’re looking for.

I’m always around for you

Once you’re in my world, consider yourself a homie. I give my clients 24/7 access to me when we’re working together. And even after we close the container, I’m still available for support more generously than I think most coaches are. Why? Because the relationship we’re going to build together is the most important part of the process. The more safe and cared for you feel, the more we can accomplish together.

I’ll be sending you resources, reaching out to check-in with you (unless you hate that which I respect), and answering your 6-minute voice notes about a new epiphany or a breakdown you’re having that you ‘just need to get off your chest.’

The sky is the limit once you’re in my circle and if you want to get the most out of our time, I HIGHLY suggest you take full advantage of this.

Consider our relationship training ground for all your other relationships. Practice is your greatest teacher if you think of it that way.

I’m a great liaison between the physical and the spiritual (without being too woo woo)

Something that feels important to mention when it comes to working with me is that I have certainly done a lot of work in my own life to find a balance of spirituality and reality.

There were moments in my own process where I leaned too far into the spiritual and felt out of touch with life in the real world. As you can imagine, this had implications on how grounded I felt and my ability to accomplish anything tangible.

Because I’ve had this experience and because I’m extremely mindful of how psychedelic experiences affect us, it’s core to me to find a balance between the physical and the spiritual.

In coaching this really means helping you determine that for yourself. How can we explore spirituality in a way that feels practical but also expansive? And how can we apply what the spiritual teaches us to what we’re doing on the ground in the real world?

Idk about you but the woo-woo-ness of the spiritual community can be a bit disorienting and uninviting. Like if you can’t see auras and read energy then you’re not welcome and I’m here to tell you that you’re more than welcome and going to be a lot better off for not trying to rip yourself off the ground and go full-spiritual. At least you won’t do that with me.

I’m not just a coach

I’m also an artist, a dancer, a writer, a friend, and full-blown human humaning all the time.

I’d like to think that I have a high level of humility in this world because I’m living it right alongside you. I don’t believe in just having one identity marker, especially when it comes to our titles, and I practice what I preach in this facet.

Being a coach to me sometimes means being a knowledgable friend that asks really good questions. I think you’ll find this refreshing and much less forced than me sitting across from you forcing you to create your 5-year plan and tell me what action steps you’re going to commit to next time.

No shame in that game, just not what we’ll be doing together.

I’m a safe space for you to share

I already slightly touched on this but I think it deserves re-mentioning. Did you know that feeling safe is essential to healing?

When you don’t feel safe (even subconsciously) your parasympathetic nervous system increases activity and all other brain functions decrease in order to allocate all resources to this current task of becoming safe again. All of this happens automatically, which is why when you’re triggered, even if you logically know you’re safe, your body and mind are reacting much differently.

Which means you’ll retain less information, you’ll be less curious and much more closed off, therefore unable to think or act with more expansiveness.

Feeling safe is physiologically essential to doing deep inner work because if your body can’t allocate the resources for your brain to go there, then you won’t be able to move forward.

It’s why it’s one of the most important parts of my practice as a coach and a mentor. How can I make you feel more safe? Intuitively I have a process that I work with and also, I’ll ask your personal preferences as well just to be sure.

Safety is the main priority of our relationship.

I don’t consider this work

Cliche maybe, but it’s true. Similar to what I said earlier, consider me a knowledgable friend that asks really good questions.

I love this work, like capital L—LOVE. And because I love it, I pour so much of my heart and soul and pride into it. I’m always learning how I can show up better, always shoving my nose into books, and articles, and experiences that support me to be more equipped for you.

Since I know what it’s like to hate what I do so much and have felt extremely out of integrity in my career endeavors in the past, I can say with full confidence that loving what I do has really made a big difference in the way I show up.

It’s such a gift to ‘get to’ help people, rather than feel like ‘I have to’ and I wake up with that eagerness on a daily basis.

I don’t know about you, but when working in any relationship, feeling like the person on the other end actually likes what they do is a major game-changer, especially the customer service people that are actually kind. Am I right?

I care about you more than you may be used to

Truly though, if you’re anything like I was, I bet you feel like people don’t care about you as much as you care about them. And in this relationship, I’ll be flipping the script on you.

I don’t simply check the box after our sessions and put you on my to-do list as something I ‘have to’ get done. When working with me, you’re a priority and a privilege and I’m going to make you feel that way in our interactions and in my energy output to you.

Which is why I only take on a handful of clients at a time, so I can provide this support and attention without burning myself out in the process.

I want you to feel cared for, seen, heard, loved, honored, rooted for, celebrated, held, and on and on and on because it’s from this place that you can really strengthen your own worthiness and deservingness of that feeling in ALL your relationships, especially the one with yourself.

It may feel a bit strange at first if you’re not used to it, but trust that over time this will fundamentally change how you feel about yourself for the better. And truly, it’s the least that I can do.

Now that you know a bit about why I think you’ll love working with me, let me tell you about who I love working with

Let’s name this imaginary yet totally real client named Jennifer.

Jennifer is a light! A bright and shiny individual with a lot of energy and a lot of emotions. She’s open-minded and full of hope. She doesn’t take life very seriously yet has goals that she wants to accomplish, which is only part of her challenge.

She’s eager to get off her medications she takes for her anxiety and clinical depression as well as her ADHD because she feels like they take her sparkle away.

She wants a better relationship with her emotions so she can feel more in control of her life, rather than letting her big feelings side swipe her into multiple day benders of binge-watching Netflix and not leaving the house as a coping mechanism.

Jennifer appreciates having someone who’s looking out for her, someone who asks her questions that help her feel like her emotions are actually friends rather than enemies. She is highly self aware and incredibly curious, open to experimenting with different practices and eager to understand why she is the way she is. She also always does her homework which makes me feel like she really trusts the process and wants to change.

She knows she’s a ray of sunshine and the best friend you could have, yet feels like a burden whenever she’s in the turbulence of her emotional cycles, which causes her to isolate.

And because she’s such a bright and shiny individual, when she’s good, she’s on fire! She simply wishes she wasn’t so afraid of when the shoe is going to drop and she’s going to go spiraling downward.

Jennifer values our relationship because it feels like she can be exactly who she is at all times. She doesn’t have to worry about being a burden to me which gives her space to explore the feelings with less guilt and shame. She trusts that I’m there to support her and leaves our sessions so grateful for seeing herself from a new perspective.

Jennifer KNOWS that she wants to live life more aligned to her and her bright and shiny personality and she’s determined to manifest the changes and the experiences she so deeply desires. She knows that process starts with her feelings toward herself and she’s determined to make it a reality.

If you and Jennifer have a lot in common, well then, I think we’re gonna make a good team, as in, I think you should work with me. Or at least grab coffee with me sometime soon? I’d like that too!
